Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Meredith 4-0

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team hosted Meredith College in the final non-conference game for the WildCats. Randolph scored a pair of goals in each half as it defeated the Avenging Angels 4-0.

The WildCats remain undefeated on the season with a record of 4-0-2. Meredith drops to 1-3.

Randolph dominated in total shots in the first half 10-1. On the WildCats' second shot of the game, Sterlyn Woodward (Madison, Va./Madison County) scored to give Randolph the 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. In the 29th minute, Joanne Torres (North Chesterfield, Va./Meadowbrook) passed to Riley Carl (Suffolk, Va./Homeschool) to the middle of the field and Carl struck with her right foot a shot that got past Meredith keeper Kasey Wilkins and in to put the 'Cats ahead 2-0.

The two teams were even in shots in the second half at six each. The WildCats continued to add to their lead. In the 57th minute, Ella Myers (Cross Junction, Va./James Woods) put away a shot into the back end of the net as Randolph went up 3-0. In the 70th minute, a ball attempted to be cleared out by an Avenging Angels defender found its way to Taylor Batty (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) whose chip shot found its way into the goal and in for the 4-0 lead.

The WildCats led in total shots 16-7 and in shots on goal 12-3. Randolph took five corners to Meredith's two.

Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice) picked up her third straight shutout in goal for the WildCats. She stopped three shots on the evening.

Randolph begins conference play this Saturday as it faces cross-city rival Lynchburg at WildCat Stadium. Game time will be at 1:00 p.m.
