Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

WildCats and Hornets Play to Scoreless Tie

LYNCHBURG, Va.- A big crowd on WildCat Weekend was on hand to see the Randolph men's soccer team take on Shenandoah on Saturday evening at WildCat Stadium. The two teams battled it out for 90 minutes but neither went away a winner as the game was played to a scoreless tie.

While the two teams are conference rivals in the ODAC, the game was designated as a non-conference contest. Randolph's overall record is now 3-1-1 while SU is now 2-1-2.

Defense was on display as the teams took a total of eight shots on the night. Shenandoah led in overall shots taken 5-3 and in shots on goal 3-1.

WildCat keeper Zach Aylor (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) stopped three shots between the pipes. None was bigger than in the 86th minute when Connor Robles' blast was tipped off to the left by Aylor setting up a corner kick situation for the Hornets. Shenandoah took that one and then another corner but the Randolph defense was there to deny any scoring opportunity. Shenandoah took four corner kicks to Randolph's three.

The WildCats' best look at a goal came in the 80th minute. A free kick came to Tory Brown (Portsmouth, Va./Churchland) who headed the ball towards the back of the net but Travis Jett was there to make the stop. That was Jett's only save of the game for SU.

Randolph officially begins conference play this coming Tuesday as it hosts Roanoke. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
