Men’s Soccer Falls to William Peace 1-0 in Opener

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's soccer team hosted William Peace on Thursday afternoon in the WildCats' home opener. The Pacer's scored just once in the game and kept the 'Cats off balance all day as they won 1-0.

William Peace attacked early on in the first half as they put up three shots on goal in just under 14 minutes of the first half. Randolph keeper Zach Aylor (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) was able to come up with three saves to keep the visitors off the board. One shot did get past Aylor as Jorge Lemus took a pass from Jorge Agular and took a shot to the left of the net past Aylor and in to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Randolph had a good look at a goal in the 36th minute. A corner kick set the ball out in front in a scrum but Tory Brown's (Portsmouth, Va./Churchland) shot went right of the goal.

Both teams finished with nine shots on the day. The Pacers had six shots on goal to three for the WildCats. Corner kicks were in Randolph's favor 5-3.

Aylor finished with five saves on the day. His counterpart for William Peace, Tripp Kidd, had three saves.

Randolph travels to Greensboro this coming Saturday. Game time is at 5:00 p.m.
