AMHERST, Va.- Heading into today's game against Sweet Briar, the Randolph women's soccer team was scoreless in its last three contests. The scoring drought ended as the WildCats tallied eight goals on the afternoon as they defeated the Vixens 8-0.
Randolph improves its record to 5-2-3 overall and records its first ODAC win on the season as it moves to 1-2-1 in the conference. Sweet Briar drops to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in the ODAC.
The WildCats totaled 61 shots on the day. That not only is a season-high but is also a new game record for the team as it tops the previous mark of 59 set in 2014. Randolph had a dominating 61-4 advantage in total shots and 42-2 in shots on goal.
Scoring was spread among six players. Sterlyn Woodward (Madison, Va./Madison County) and Kaylie Todd (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside Health Sciences Academy) both had two goals each with Todd's goals the first of her career. Bo Knight (Big Island, Va./Jefferson Forest) and Ellie O'Connell (Aldie, Va./Lightridge) both tallied their second goals of the season. O'Connell also assisted on one of Todd's goals. Joanne Torres (North Chesterfield, Va./Meadowbrook) scored her third of the year and Julia Crider (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) had her first goal of the season.
Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice) picked up her fifth shutout of the season. She had two saves on the day.
Randolph travels to Averett on Wednesday. Game time from Danville will be at 5:30 p.m.
