DANVILLE, Va- The Randolph women's soccer team traveled south to Averett for the first ODAC meeting between the two schools on Wednesday. The Cougars scored early in the second half and held the WildCats off the scoreboard as they won by the score of 1-0.
Both teams were even in shots in the first half 3-3. Averett scored in the 52nd minute. Randolph had a chance late in the second half to tie the game but Sterlyn Woodward's (Madison, Va./Madison County) shot was blocked. Knight had had two more shots on frame in the last minute of play but both were saved by Cougars goalkeeper Alyson Kinkoph.
Randolph ended the game outshooting Averett 8-7 in overall shots and led 4-3 in shots on goal.
Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice) finished with two saves in goal for Randolph. Kinkoph also had two saves.
The WildCats return home on Saturday as they host Hollins. Game time will be at 6:00 p.m.
