GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Randolph women's soccer team competed in its final regular season road game on Wednesday as they faced Guilford. Four goals were scored in the second half as the Quakers came out on top of the WildCats 3-1.
Randolph's overall record drops to 6-6-3 overall and 2-6-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Guilford improves to 11-4-1 and 5-4 in the ODAC.
The two teams were in a scoreless deadlock after the first half. WildCat starting goalkeeper Maddie Friel (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) came up with three saves to keep GC off the scoreboard.
It was more than 12 minutes of game time before the first goal was scored. Guilford broke the scoreless tie at 57:06 on a goal by Olivia Santos. It wasn't until the 73rd minute when the Quakers struck again to go up 2-0.
Randolph finally broke through at 77:38 on Sterlyn Woodward's (Madison, Va./Madison County) goal. The Quakers upped their lead to 3-1 in the 81st minute for the game's final goal.
Guilford led in total shots 14-8 and in shots on goal 8-5. Friel finished with five saves on the afternoon.
The WildCats wrap up the season on Saturday when they host Bridgewater. Game time will be at 3:00 p.m.
