WildCats Shut Out Mary Baldwin 2-0

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's soccer team hosted Mary Baldwin in the WildCats final non-conference match of the season on Wednesday night. The Fighting Squirrels did indeed live up to their name but the 'Cats were the ones on the winning end as they came away victorious 2-0.

Randolph remains undefeated at 8-0. Mary Baldwin drops to 3-5-1.

The WildCats went right to work in the opening minutes of the first half as they put up two shots on frame. One shot by Noah Carney (Charleston, W.V./Homeschool) came close to going in but glanced off the crossbar. Randolph got on the board in the 23rd minute as Evan Blow (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) back kicked over to Tucker Leverone (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) who punched the ball in for the 1-0 WildCat lead.

The game remained at 1-0 for the majority of the game. The WildCats got off shots on goal but stellar play by Mary Baldwin's Obdulio Argueta kept Randolph from upping its lead.

The WildCats finally broke through again in the 80th minute. Kyle May (Raleigh, N.C/Millbrook) sent a pass down to Blow who scored into the right side of the net for his team-leading 12th goal of the season to give the 'Cats a 2-0 lead.

Randolph had a commanding 20-2 advantage in total shots. Shots on goal were 11-1 in the WildCats' favor.

Zach Aylor (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) faced just one shot for Randolph in the net. Argueta finished with nine saves on the night.

The WildCats returns to conference play as they embark on the first of three straight road contests. Next up for Randolph is Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday. Game time will be at 4:30 p.m.
