LEXINGTON, Va.- The Randolph volleyball team began conference play on Wednesday as it traveled to Washington and Lee. The Generals won 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-18).

The WildCats even their record at 4-4. W&L improves to 7-2.

The Generals got out to a 7-0 lead in the first set. Randolph got as close as 15-8 but Washington and Lee outscored the Wildcats 10-1 to claim the set.

The second set saw both teams trading off points. The WildCats trailed 9-7 until the Generals went on a 6-0 run to go up 15-7. The W&L lead grew to 22-11 and it was poised to claim the set. Randolph fought back with an 8-2 run to come storming back and close to 24-19. Washington and Lee was able to get match point on an attack error by Tomi-Lauren McGinnis (Ringgold, Va./Dan River) to go up 2-0 in the match.

The 'Cats trailed 6-5 in the third set. An 8-1 run by the Generals put the home team ahead 14-6. Behind 19-9, the WildCats embarked on a 6-0 run to close to 19-15. Washington and Lee used a 6-3 run in the end to take the set and match.

Logan Warren (Chesterfield, Va./Steward School) led with 10 kills. Kenleigh Gunter (Troutville, Va./Lord Botetourt) picked up 23 digs. McGinnis added 18 digs and five kills.  Emily Barcenas (Lawerenceville, Ga./Lanier) had a double-double effort of 12 digs and 12 assists.

Randolph hosts a tri-match at Giles Gymnasium on Saturday. The WildCats face Regent University at 1:00 pm and Methodist at 5:00 p.m.
