Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Records Fall As Men’s Soccer Defeats Emory and Henry 8-1 in Home Opener

LYNCHBURG, Va.- More than a year after their last game, the Randolph men's soccer team finally returned to the pitch on Sunday evening as the WildCats hosted Emory and Henry. The long layoff didn't seem to bother the 'Cats as they jumped all over the Wasps and won 8-1.

Two program records were set on the night. Evan Blow's (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) four goals is a new Randolph game record. The eight goals scored by the team are also the most against an ODAC opponent in team history.

It was all Randolph the whole evening as the WildCats allowed just one shot to the Wasps. That shot was a goal scored by E&H's Clarence Russell in the 86th minute.

Gavin Leverette (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass), Tucker Leverone (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River), and Brandon Betts (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) all scored their first collegiate goals. Ashton Poythress (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) scored the game's first goal of the night in the 7th minute. He also assisted on Leverette's goal in the 42nd minute.

The WildCats totaled 32 shots with 18 coming on frame. Randolph recorded eight corner kicks to Emory and Henry's one.

Randolph travels to Eastern Mennonite next Sunday. Game time will be at 6:00 p.m.
