Men’s Soccer Dethrones Royals 4-1

HARRISONBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's soccer team looked to stay unbeaten on the season as they traveled north to Eastern Mennonite on Saturday. The WildCats scored four unanswered goals and kept their strong start to the season going as they defeated the Royals 4-1.

The win gives the 'Cats an overall record of 10-0-1 and a 3-0-1 mark in ODAC play. EMU falls to 0-12 and 0-4 in the conference.

It was the host Royals who struck first in the game. In the 9th minute, Ethan McGee passed to Cole Ours who hit a shot into the back of the net to put Eastern Mennonite ahead 1-0.

Randolph was able to get the equalizer in the 21st minute. Noah Carney (Charleston, W.V./Homeschool) assisted Evan Blow (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) on his goal to make it 1-1. EMU thought they took the lead in the 23rd minute but were called offside and the score remained tied at halftime

In the second half, Blow scored a solo goal less than two minutes into the period to put Randolph ahead to 2-1. The WildCats added to their lead in the 79th minute on an own goal by the Royals. Carney assisted on Gavin Leverette's (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) score in the 81st minute

The WildCats led in total shots 22-4. Shot on goal favored the 'Cats 11-1 with EMU's only shot on frame its lone goal early in the first half.

Zach Aylor (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) did not have a save despite giving up the lone Royals goal. His counterpart for EMU, Ahmed Zaatar came away with seven saves.

Randolph returns to WildCat Stadium to host Randolph-Macon on Wednesday. Game time will be at 6:00 p.m.
