Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Falls at #23 Lynchburg 2-0

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team made the short trip across town to play cross-city rival and #23 ranked Lynchburg on Wednesday night. The WildCats held the Hornets scoreless in the first half but host Lynchburg broke through with two goals in the second half to win 2-0.

While the WildCats did not register a goal on the night, the two goals they held the Hornets to were the least given up to a Lynchburg squad since 1997.

Despite being outshot 10-2 in the first half, the WildCat defense held its own against the Hornets. Randolph keeper Alexis Bossi (Chesapeake, Va./Falls Church, Va./Justice) stopped three shots for the WildCats in goal. Randolph blocked a pair of Lynchburg shots. Hannah Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetort) was able to prevent a Hornet score in the 42nd minute as she deflected a Lynchburg scoring attempt.

In the second half, Randolph's defense continued to apply pressure. Two shots by Lynchburg were blocked. The Hornets would break through, however, with a score in the 56th minute. Lynchburg tallied its second goal in the 62nd minute.

Bossi finished with six saves on the evening for the WildCats.

Randolph hosts Shenandoah this Saturday at WildCat Stadium. Game time will be at 5:00 p.m.
