SALEM, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team traveled to the campus of Hollins University on Saturday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game. The WildCats matched their scoring output from a few days ago as they defeated HU 9-0.
With the win, Randolph improves to 6-9 overall and 3-5 in the ODAC. Hollins drops to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Marisa Santacroce (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) got it started for the WildCats as she scored her sixth goal of the season at 3:59. The score remained that way until 35:03 when Sara Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) scored her first of the afternoon and followed were her second score just 17 seconds later. Julia Crider (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) then netted her first collegiate goal in the 44th minute to give the 'Cats a 4-0 halftime lead.
The WildCats picked up right where they left off as Sterlyn Woodward (Banco, Va./Madison County) scored just 1:22 in the second half. Bane picked up the hat trick in the 53rd minute. Woodward hit the back of the net just over a minute after Bane's goal. Joanne Torres (North Chesterfield, Va./Meadowbrook) then scored to make it 8-0 in Randolph's favor. The last score was an own goal.
Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice) got the shutout as she tallied three saves. Randolph dominated in total shots 45-3 and corner kicks 19-2.
The WildCats return home to host Guilford on Wednesday night. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
