Seniors Shine For Men’s Soccer in 4-2 Win Over Guilford

LYNCHBURG, Va.- It was Senior Night for the Randolph men's soccer team as they hosted Guilford on Saturday evening at WildCat Stadium. Several seniors made an impact for the 'Cats as they would defeat the Quakers 4-2.

Randolph remains undefeated as it improves to 11-0-2 overall and 4-0-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Guilford falls to 4-7 overall and 1-6 in the ODAC.

Senior Brandon Betts (Upper Marlboro, Md./Upper Marlboro) got the scoring going for the WildCats in the 4th minute. Betts put away a rebound off a save from the Guilford keeper and into the back of the net to put Randolph ahead 1-0.

Senior Evan Blow (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) gave the WildCats a 2-0 lead as he scored his team and conference leading 15th goal of the season at 11:02. Noah Carney (Charleston, W.V./Homeschool) scored a solo shot in the 19th minute. Senior Wade Hall (Spotsylvania, Va./Courtland) took a corner from senior Kyle May (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) and was able to pass out in front to senior Johnny Watters (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) who punched it in to give the WildCats a 4-0 advantage. It was Watters' first career goal.

Randolph mixed in some reserves in the second half to give the starters a break. Guilford made the game interesting with goals within 32 seconds of each other at 65:17 and 66:26 to halve the WildCat lead to 4-2.

Despite not scoring for the remainder of the half, the 'Cats were able to keep the Quakers at bay. Randolph did have a couple of near scores as Taylor Jones (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) took a shot that just glanced off the left post in the 84th minute and Brandon John's (Clarksburg, Md./Clarksburg) shot in the 87th minute went a tick wide of the right post.

Senior Zach Aylor (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) played 60:40 and stopped two shots. Alvaro Vaca Diez (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Santa Crus Coop) had the other save for the WildCats. Roman Robinson came away with five saves for Guilford.

Randolph led in shots 16-6 and in shots on goal 9-5. Corner kicks were slightinyl in Guilford's favor 4-3.
