ASHLAND, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team traveled to Ashland for a midweek match with Randolph-Macon on Wednesday evening. The WildCats held an early 1-0 lead but the Yellow Jackets scored five unanswered goals on their way to a 5-1 win.
Randolph's goal came in the 4th minute. Sara Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) was able to pass to Marisa Santacroce (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) in the bottom center and she beat out Yellow Jacket goalie Zoe Long to out the 'Cats ahead 1-0.
The WildCat lead held up for just over 11 minutes of game time. The Jackets tied it up in the 15th minute and then went ahead 2-1 in the 16th minute. They would score once in the 22nd minute and a fourth time in the 35th minute to lead 4-1 at the break.
Randolph-Macon led in total shots 26-8 and in shots on goal 10-3. Corner kicks were in the home team's favor 9-1.
Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice) came up with five saves on the night. Long had two saves for the Jackets.
Randolph travels to Bridgewater this coming Saturday. Game time will be at 11:00 a.m.
