"Tough loss to a disciplined well-coached team," said head coach Steve Lanpher. "I thought we came out with great intensity in the first quarter taking away their inside game. The second quarter we struggled offensively to make shots. The third quarter proved to be our demise as we allowed them too many paint touches and too many second shot opportunities. Kalyn played her strongest offensive game of the year and Yanessa was sold once again at the point."
Banks fell just one rebound short of a double-double as she scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds. She also came away with three steals. Yanessa Cabrera (Manassa, Va./Stonewall Jackson) added 10 points, four assists, and three steals. Lanaysia Gonzalez (Richmond, Va./Goochland) chipped in six points and three rebounds.
The WildCats return home to host Hollins on Saturday. Game time will be at 2:00 p.m.
