Women's Lax Falls to Virginia Wesleyan on Senior Day

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's lacrosse team hosted Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. Prior to the game, the WildCats recognized their senior class. Three seniors had a hand in five of the WildCats' six goals as the Marlins won by the score of 27-6.

The Marlins scored the first goal of the contest a little under two minutes into the first period. Randolph responded as it forced Virginia Wesleyan starting goalkeeper Mike Hairston out of position. Sarah Perry (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County) passed to Hannah Bradley (Wye Mills, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) who shot into the unguarded net for the score to knot the game at 1-1 at 27:33.

The Marlins broke the game open with an 8-0 run to go up 9-1 with 17:38 remaining in the half. The 'Cats tallied two straight scores to narrow the lead to 9-3 with under 16 minutes left. The deficit was six at the 10:39 mark but the Marlin's 7-0 run going into halftime gave the visitors an 18-5 lead at the break.

It was all Virginia Wesleyan in the second half as the Marlins outscored the WildCats 9-1. Randolph's goal came from Bradley on a free position at 27:01.

Bradley finished with three goals on the day to lead the WildCats. Tyrah Cobb-Davis (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) scored once. Perry and Teagan Stanley (Lusby, Md./Homeschool) both had a goal and an assist. Cobb-Davis, Stanley, and Perry all picked up two groundballs apiece. Chrissy Shackleford (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) stopped 11 shots in the net.

The WildCats host Roanoke this coming Tuesday. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
