LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's soccer team hosted #5 Washington and Lee in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night. The Generals scored once in each half as they held the WildCats off the scoreboard for a 2-0 win.
The loss drops the 'Cats record to 6-5-1 and 1-2 in the ODAC. W&L improves to 9-1-2 and 3-0 in the conference.
It was a tough defensive battle throughout with both teams jockeying for possession. The Generals' goal came in the 13th minute on a solo shot by Oliver Dolberg.
The W&L defense kept Randolph off balance all night. The WildCats had six shots on the evening with four coming on frame.
Erick Cortez-Martinez (Winston-Salem, N.C./North Forsyth) had four of his five saves in the second half to keep the score at 1-0. W&L was able to tally their second goal of the night in the 85th minute to complete the scoring.
Randolph travels to Emory and Henry on Saturday. Game time will be at 1:00 p.m.
