EMORY, Va.- The Randolph men's soccer team traveled to Emory And Henry on Saturday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match with the Wasps. After a scoreless first half, the WildCats erupted for four goals in the second half and held E&H off the scoresheet as they won 4-0.
The win lifts Randolph's record to 7-5-2 and 2-2 in the ODAC. Emory and Henry drops to 6-6-2 and 0-4 in the conference.
The WildCats had their chances in the first half with a total of seven shots on goal. Wasp goalkeeper Spencer Scott was there to deny six of the chances with the other being stopped by a Emory and Henry defender.
Randolph finally broke through in the 55th minute. Frankie DiOrio (Bristow, Va./Patriot) sent a short pass inside the box that Noah Carney (Charleston, W.V./Homeschool) sent in for the score. Carney struck again less than three minutes later as he took a cross pass from Evan Blow (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) from the right side and deposited the ball into the back of the net for the score.
Blow himself would tally a goal with an assist from Daniel Over (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) in the 62nd minute. The scoring was capped up with a late goal in the 82nd minute by Alex Reyes (Sparks, Nev.) with the helper from Jamie Dickson (Portsmouth, Va./Woodrow Wilson).
Randolph dominated in shots 27-4 and in shots on goal 16-3. The WildCats had a sizable advantage in corner kicks 12-3.
Zach Aylor (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) got the start in goal and stopped three shots in 74:45. Cody Toews (Bumpass, Va./Louisa County) came in for the last 15:15 and did not face a shot.
Randolph heads to Salem on to face currently #18 Roanoke on Wednesday. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
