Royals Edge Out WildCats 1-0

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team hosted Eastern Mennonite University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon at WildCat Stadium. The Royals scored midway through the first half and made it hold up as they defeated the 'Cats 1-0.

Randolph's record drops to 4-3-2 overall and 0-2 in the ODAC. EMU improves to 8-2 and 2-1 in the conference.

EMU scored in the 25th minute. Rachel Sauder sent a high shot into the left corner of the net for the score.

The teams were even in overall shots 14-14. The Royals landed nine on frame and the WildCats seven.

Sara Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) took eight shots with four coming on goal. She had good looks on all four but Eastern Mennonite goalkeeper Leah Wenger was able to deny each opportunity.

Despite letting one get through, WildCats goalkeeper Zoe Warring (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) stopped eight in the net.

Randolph heads across town on Wednesday to face Lynchburg. Game time will be at 4:00 p.m.
