WildCats End Goalless Streak Against Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va- The Randolph women's soccer team made the short trip across town to take on cross-city rival Lynchburg on Wednesday afternoon. The Hornets got out to a 5-0 lead on their way to a 5-1 victory.

The story of the game was that the WildCats had not scored a goal against Lynchburg since 2001. That long streak ended in the 57th minute. The 'Cats were granted a free kick just about 20 yards out from the net. Hannah Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) struck a curling shot around three Hornet defenders, below the crossbar, and into the back of the goal for her first career score.

Goalkeeper Zoe Waring (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) stopped 15 shots for the WildCats.

Randolph's record now stands at 4-4-2 overall and 0-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Lynchburg improves to 6-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the ODAC.

The WildCats travel to Hollins on Saturday. Game time will be at 2:00 p.m.
