WildCats Shut out Vixens 5-0

SWEET BRIAR, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team played it's penultimate game of the season on Wednesday as they traveled to Sweet Briar to play the Vixens. It was a rainy and wet afternoon but that did not stop the WildCats as they topped the Vixens 5-0.

The victory lifts Randolph to 6-8-2 overall and 2-7 in the ODAC. Sweet Briar falls to 0-15-1 overall and 0-9 in the conference.

Scoring was spread out among five different scorers on the afternoon. Grace Jennings (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) got it started just over three and a half minutes in to put Randolph ahead 1-0. Sara Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) scored her team-leading 14th goal of the year in the 31st minute to give the 'Cats a 2-0 lead going into halftime

The WildCats struck twice within two minutes in the second half. Hannah Overstreet (Bedford, Va./Liberty) netted a goal at 56:26 followed by Nicole Taulton's (Fairplay, Md./Wiliamsport) first career score at 58:25.  Hannah Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) completed the scoring with the WildCats' fifth goal at 83:28.

The WildCats had a total of 58 shots on the day. It is one off from tying the game record for most shots in a game of 59 set back in 2014.

Deaven Milam (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) was the starting goalkeeper and did not face a shot. Katelyn Myer stopped 12 shots for Sweet Briar.

Randolph's season finale is this Saturday against Guilford and will also be the team's Senior Day. Game time is at 12:00 p.m.
