LYNCHBURG, Va.- Heading into tonight's game at WildCat Stadium, the Randolph and Ferrum women's soccer teams have had their last three games decided by one goal. It was the same outcome this time around as the visiting Panthers defeated the WildCats 1-0.
The loss drops Randolph to 5-7-2 overall and 1-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Ferrum improves to 8-5-2 and 4-2-1 in the conference.
The Panthers held a 9-2 advantage in shots in the first half but the two teams were scoreless. The game would not stay that way for long in the second half as Ferrum scored just over six minutes in on a goal by Alex Mattson.
Total shots were only 6-5 in the second half in Ferrum's favor. Randolph had a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal. Overall, Ferrum led 9-4 in shots on frame.
Zoe Waring (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) finished with eight saves in the net for the WildCats. That gives her 106 for the season and already tops her previous season mark of 105 from last season. Overall, her 211 career saves put her in ninth place all time.
The WildCats travel to Lexington on Saturday to face #18 Washington and Lee. Game time will be at 12:00 p.m.
