Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph College men's lacrosse team fell to cross-town and Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Lynchburg College, 25-3, on Wednesday evening at WildCat Stadium.
A 14-2 assault in the opening quarter set the tone for the rest of the game as the Hornets ended up outscoring the WildCats, 11-1, to take home the win.
Although Lynchburg was first to land on the scoreboard, Prince Charles (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) leveled the score to one apiece shortly after as the junior midfielder shot down the field after winning the face-off to find the back of the net. The Hornets responded with two consecutive goals of their own to grab a 3-1 lead, but Zach Early (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) would add the WildCats' second goal of the quarter to decrease the deficit to 3-2 with 12:35 remaining.
However, the Hornets went off on an 11-0 run to grab a commanding 14-2 lead, which they would extend to 15-2 in the second quarter. The WildCats recorded what would be their final goal of the night as Brett Pausic (Saluda, Va./Christchurch) scored off a feed from Kadri Hearns (Cumming, Ga./South Forsyth) at the 6:04 mark. Lynchburg would close out the half with a 16-3 tally before shutting out the WildCats, 9-0, to seal the 25-3 victory.
Lynchburg outshot Randolph, 45-11 and won 20-of-31 face-offs.
Charles fired off four shots for the Randolph offense while picking up five ground balls and winning 7-of-17 face-offs. Pausic and Josh Yeast (Chesapeake, Va./Norfolk Academy) finished the night with two shots each while Jace Cornell scooped up four ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Matt Lindenbaum (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) earned the loss in net, facing 14 shots and making two saves.
The WildCats drop to 0-14, 0-7 ODAC and will head out on the road to Randolph-Macon College on Saturday, April 21 for a 1 p.m. match-up.
