Women's Lacrosse Falls to Shenandoah

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's lacrosse team hosted Shenandoah in an ODAC game on Friday afternoon at WildCat Stadium. The Hornets were victorious by the final score of 21-6.

Shenandoah had a free positon attempt almost two minutes into the first half that Randolph goalie Chrissy Shackleford (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) was able to defend. The WildCats cleared and Tyrah Cobb-Davis (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) was able to sneak one past Hornet goalkeeper Maddie Albornox and in to give the 'Cats a 1-0 lead.

The WildCat lead did not last as Shenandoah came back and tied it up 11 seconds after Randolph's score and went ahead 27 seconds after that. The Hornets tallied 11 straight goals to lead 13-1 with 8:37 remaining in the half. The WildCats ended the SU scoring spree as Hannah Bradley (Wye Mills, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) scored on a free position with 4:35 left in the period.

In the second half, Rachel Buxton (Sterling, Va.) scored the first goal of the period at 26 minutes on a free position attempt. Randolph put up three straight scores in less than a 10-minute span midway through the stanza.

Buxton and Bradley both had a pair of goals in the game. Sarah Perry (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County) and Cobb-Davis both had one each. Shackleford finished with seven saves in net.

The WildCats travel to Virginia Beach on Wednesday as they play Virginia Wesleyan. Game time is at 6:00 p.m.
