Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's lacrosse team hosted Southern Virginia in a non-conference game on Tuesday evening at WildCat Stadium. The Knights had the upper hand on the 'Cats as they won by the score of 17-4.
Southern Virginia led 5-0 with 17:38 remaining in the first half. After the fifth goal, the WildCats won the ensuing draw control and quickly moved into the offensive zone. Once there, Shannon McQuaid (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) found Nicole Dorton (Alexandria, Va./J.E.B. Stuart) for the score to get the 'Cats on the board. Randolph trailed 7-1 until Rachel Buxton (Sterling, Va.) scored unassisted to make it a 7-2 contest. The Knights would go on to score twice to lead 9-2 at the break.
The WildCats scored the first goal of the second half on a Buxton solo shot. That would be as close as Randolph got as the Knights tallied five times to up their lead to 14-3. McQuaid scored the fourth WildCat goal with less than 10 minutes to play.
Chrissy Shackleford (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) had 17 saves in goal for Randolph. Her counterpart for Southern Virginia, Madilyn Krauss, stopped seven shots.
Randolph hosts Shenandoah in ODAC play this coming Friday. Game time will be at 5:00 p.m.
