WildCat Women Shut Down Vixens 2-0

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team held visiting Sweet Briar to just one total shot on the night as the WildCats came away with a 2-0 victory at WildCat Stadium. The win ups Randolph's record to 7-5 and 2-5 in the ODAC. Sweet Briar falls to 1-13 and 0-7 in the conference.

Randolph got on the scoreboard in the 23rd minute when Sam Hablas (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) dished off to Alez Uzdavinis (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield), who tucked in a shot into the top left corner of the netto give the 'Cats a 1-0 lead. It was Uzdanvis' first career goal.

35 seconds into the second half, a foul was called on the Vixens in the penalty area. Hablas came on to attempt the kick but was turned down by Sweet Briar goalkeeper Caroline Thomas.

Marisa Santacroce (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) was just off on her shot attempt that tipped off of the crossbar and out of play in the 59th minute. The WildCats tallied their second goal of the evening in the 80th minute as Hannah Overstreet (Bedford, Va./Liberty) passed to Sara Bane (Blue Ridge,Va./Lord Botetourt) and she hit a rolling shot into the right side and in for her ninth goal of the season. Bane nearly had her second of the game just over a minute later but it glanced off of the crossbar.

Shelby Lutz (Lynchburg, Va./Brookville) picked up the win in goal and did not face a shot. Thomas finished with 15 saves for the Vixens.

Randolph put up a season-high 43 shots. The team also had six corner kicks.

The WildCats go on the road Sunday to play Emory and Henry. Game time will be at 1:00 p.m.
