WildCats drop contest to Maroons

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College women's lacrosse team hosted Roanoke College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) on Saturday.  The WildCats fell to the Maroons 22-1.

The 'Cats earned several early opportunities, almost getting on the board in the first few minutes.  Tyrah Cobb-Davis and Leah Hughes had attempts, but they were saved.

After the two teams traded possession, the visitors started a run.  Despite great goaltending by Chrissy Shackleford and stout defending from the 'Cats, Roanoke took a 14-0 lead into the half.  Shackleford stopped nine shots during the period.

The Maroons added to their advantage at the beginning of the second period, but Teagan Stanley brought one back halfway through the second.  She caught a pass from Dana Cavallo and ripped it home to bring one back for the hosts.

However, Roanoke ended the period with another run and earned the win.

Shackleford finished the game with 13 saves and a team-high three ground balls.  Cobb-Davis and Taylor Gamble also scooped up two during the game.  Courtney McCartin had one goal and three assists for the Maroons (2-9 overall, 2-1 ODAC).

Randolph (2-7, 0-2) will remain at home for its next game.  The WildCats host Guilford College in an ODAC game on Wednesday.  Game time is set for 6 p.m.
