Important Week for WildCats Includes Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer Game

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College women's soccer team will finish up its busiest portion of the schedule this week, which will feature a special game on Wednesday.  Along with that game, all three will come against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponents.

On Monday, the WildCats (3-7-1 overall, 3-3 ODAC) will travel back to Greensboro, NC to put their three-game winning streak on the line.   The team will play the rescheduled game against Guilford College (5-6, 2-4) in an important ODAC match.  Last year, these two teams tied for eighth in the final standings, but the 'Cats got in the tourney thanks to a 1-0 win earlier in the year.  This year, the ODAC is taking two additional teams to the playoffs, but it will still provide important seeding implications.  The game begins at 4 p.m.

It will be a short rest before the next game, as Randolph comes back home on Wednesday.  The WildCats host their final regular season opponent of the year, as Randolph-Macon College (4-5-3, 3-2-1) comes to town for a 6 p.m. kickoff.  While the game itself has big implications, what is going on outside of the lines is even more important.  The Randolph College women's soccer team will begin this year's Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer Campaign, sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.  All of the 'Cats will wear yellow shoelaces (color of Pediatric Cancer Awareness) with money from that being donated to local hospitals to support families.  It is important to support the community with this effort.  If you would like to make a donation or to find out more about the initiative, go to http://www.go4thegoal.org/laceup.html.

The last game of the busy week will be against Roanoke College (6-5-3, 4-2) on Saturday.  The 2 p.m. contest will be the last Saturday ODAC match of the year for the 'Cats, stressing how close the team is to tournament time. At the start of the week, the team currently sits in eighth, with its four remaining conference games against teams in sixth (Roanoke), seventh (R-MC), ninth (Guilford), and tenth (Eastern Mennonite University next week).
