Women's Lacrosse's Second Half Lead Evaporates at Sweet Briar

Box Score

SWEET BRIAR, Va. -- Randolph had a lead through 37 minutes, but a big rally by the home team gave Sweet Briar a 17-8 win.

The teams alternated the first seven goals of the game, with Randolph earning the lead on four separate occasions.

Junior Taylor Riccardi opened the scoring just 1:33 into the contest.

After Sweet Briar responded, senior Taylor Klevenz controlled the draw herself and came down, scoring an unassisted goal.

Another Vixen answer was quickly erased by sophomore Chelsea Marciniak, putting the WildCats up again.

That lead was short-lived, again, but sophomore Alyssa Umberger and Klevenz gave Randolph the first pair of goals consecutively in the contest, giving Randolph a 5-3 edge.

Sweet Briar got the final goal of the first half and scored the first in the second half, tying the contest once again.

Off of a Vixen yellow card, sophomore Addie Moore put the WildCats for the fifth time.

Not only did Sweet Briar respond to equalize again, but they scored the game's next 10 goals over 13:00 to pull away before Klevenz could strike again.

Riccardi closed the game with another goal, but the WildCats ran out of time to build on that tally.

Senior Samantha Fagone made 16 saves for her fourth game of six this year with at least that many.

Randolph is back in action Saturday against Methodist at home at 10 a.m.
