Box Score FERRUM, Va. -- Seeking the team's second-straight 3-1 start, Randolph fell to Ferrum Wednesday afternoon.
In sloppy and wet conditions, Randolph got off to a slow start on the slow grass field, falling behind 6-0 in the 19-7 defeat.
Senior Taylor Klevenz got the WildCats on the scoreboard off a feed from junior Ashton Ewers just over a minute ahead of another strike from junior Taylor Riccardi.
Three straight Panther goals gave the hosts a 9-2 edge, but Randolph fought back with three goals in a span of 1:35.
Klevenz opened that run with 6:35 to go in the first half.
Sophomore Addie Moore followed off a Klevenz pass before Klevenz scored, once again, this time from Riccardi.
The final five minutes of the frame were scoreless, sending the teams into break with Ferrum ahead, 9-5.
Ferrum scored the first two goals of the second half before Klevenz struck again off the free-position and, after two more Ferrum goals, Moore got another back.
The WildCats couldn't build on that momentum, however, dropping the decision.
Randolph is back in action on Saturday in the ODAC opener, hosting Virginia Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
