Women's Lacrosse Tripped Up in Season Opener at Goucher

Box Score

TOWSON, Md. -- With Randolph's first two originally-scheduled games postponed due to weather, women's lacrosse traveled to Goucher Saturday afternoon in the team's opener.

Facing a team with two games already under its belt, Randolph fell to Goucher, 14-1.

Senior Samantha Fagone, who was second in the nation in saves last regular season, got her season started with 17 stops in net for the WildCats.

With 120 minutes of game action already this season, Goucher showed its chemistry early, getting out to a first half lead.

Trailing 7-0 at intermission, junior Taylor Klevenz got Randolph on the scoresheet with the first goal of the second half.

After a Fagone save, the WildCats cleared the ball and the program's all-time scoring leader put it home to make the lead, 7-1.

Goucher responded strongly, however, never letting Randolph get any closer.

Alyssa Umberger and Taylor Riccardi each caused three turnovers on defense for the WildCats.

Klevenz added five draw controls.

Randolph travels to Southern Virginia on Wednesday before opening at home on Saturday.
