Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Randolph fell in an early hole, but did its best to rally from it, falling, 2-1, after conceding the game's final goal.
Statistically, today's first half was very even, with both teams even in shots on goal and corner kicks.
The WildCats had the first three shots on goal, with senior Brittany Hammons, junior Ally Ramos and sophomore Alex Pinto all threatening the Royals, but to no avail.
The hosts gained momentum late in the frame and scored the half's only goal on a header off a weak-side cross.
Randolph got more chances in the second half and finally was able to break through in the 54th minute.
Ramos gained possession of the ball of the ball in the midfield and slotted a perfect through ball in between defenders.
On the receiving end of that pass was sophomore Maggie Croft, who deposited the ball in the net to level the contest.
The two teams remained even for just 1:10, however, as the Royals got a breakaway of their own down the left side to regain the lead.
Croft had another chance just over an hour into the contest to tie the game once again, but Becca Borg was up to the challenge for EMU.
Borg finished with six saves, while her counterpart, first-year Stephanie Quirk, had nine.
Randolph is back in action on Wednesday as it travels to Guilford for another league matchup.
