Hornets Defeat WildCats in Women's Soccer ODAC Opener

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Shenandoah had too much firepower on offense today in the first ODAC women's soccer matchup of the season.

First-year goalkeeper Stephanie Quirk made double-digit saves for the second consecutive game, but could not keep Shenandoah off of the scoreboard despite 12 stops.

On two ocassions, Quirk snuffed out a one-on-one opportunity in the box, using good positioning to prevent goals.

The Hornets controlled the pace of play, however, holding an 40-1 edge in shots.

Shenandoah scored in the fifth minute off a colission in the box and tacked on three more before halftime.

In the second half, the Hornets kept Randolph at bay once again, while scoring five more.

First-year Meghan Curtin had Randolph's lone shot on goal, but was turned away by the goalkeeper.

Randolph has a quick turnaround, hosting William Peace on Tuesday.
