WildCats Fall in 'Purple Day' Game for Men's Lacrosse

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- In Randolph's home finale, the team lost to Hampden-Sydney on "Purple Day" for testicular cancer awareness, 14-4.

The first period belonged to Hampden-Sydney, with the Tigers scoring all four goals in the first 15 minutes.

In the second, the teams alternated the next eight goals.

First-year Ryan Campbell (Lynchburg, Va./Jefferson Forest) set up Randolph's first two goals to classmate Graham Southwick (Apex, N.C./Middle Creek) and sophomore Andrew Gleitz (Plymouth, Ind./Culver Military Academy).

Unassisted markers from sophomore Corey Nehlig (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) and senior Colton Wood (Chula Vista, Calif./Otay Ranch) followed for Randolph, but the WildCats never could string two of those goals together as H-SC had a response to each.

Hampden-Sydney took momentum in the second half to put away the WildCats, with the remaining six goals in the game.

Sophomore Cam Davis (Gibsonville, N.C./Western Alamance) made 16 stops in net for Randolph.

With the loss, the WildCats miss on their first chance to break their program record for wins in a season, which was matched on Saturday.

The team's second and final chance to surpass the mark will come this Saturday at Guilford.
