Box Score EMORY, Va. -- Randolph saw its playoff chances take a hit this afternoon in a loss to Emory and Henry.
The Wasps held a 27-3 edge in shots in the contest, taking the advantage in possession early in the 6-1 contest.
The host team scored three goals in the first half, including one in the first minute, keeping Randolph to just one shot in the first 45 minutes. That attempt by first-year Missy Hussey was saved.
In the second half, Randolph had a great chance to cut into that lead, but senior Brittany Hammons saw her effort hit off the crossbar and to safety, keeping the WildCats off the scoreboard.
Hammons eventually did break through in the 82nd minute, scoring off of a misplay by the goalkeeper.
This marks the fourth straight year that the midfielder has at least six goals, as she sits fifth in program history in career goals and points.
Randolph had three players rotate in goal, as first-year Quinn-Lynn Bates made six saves, first-year Stephanie Quirk made four and sophomore Caitlin Annunziata stopped one.
The WildCats next face Virginia Wesleyan at home on Wednesday.
