Eastern Mennonite Comes From Behind to Top Randolph

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Brittany Hammons (Newport News, Va./Grafton) put Randolph up 1-0, but Eastern Mennonite outscored the WildCats 4-0 after a Randolph red card three minutes later to earn the win.

On her first shot of the game, the junior, who leads the ODAC in shooting percentage among players with at least four shots, got Randolph (2-5, 0-2 ODAC) on the scoreboard by beating her defender after a takeaway.

She crossed up the goalkeeper with a right-footed shot from the right side across face of the cage.

After that, however, the weather and play did not go Randolph's way.

Under wet and stormy conditions, Randolph was reduced to ten players after a red card three minutes after the Hammons tally.

From that point forward, three of the four goals scored by EMU (6-1, 1-1 ODAC) took advantage of the slick field with the ball scooting behind the understaffed WildCat defense, leading to the final scoreline.

First-year goalkeeper Caitlin Annunziata (Havelock, N.C./Havelock) prevented any further damage by making a career-high 11 saves.
