Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The hosting Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College scored the first seven goals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest Saturday with the Randolph College women's lacrosse team in earning an 18-7 league win.
R-MC (8-0/3-0 ODAC) rattled off the first seven goals, with the first three coming from Emily Lynch. Randolph stopped the spurt at the 14:13 mark of the first half as Danielle Haney (Norwood, Pa./Interboro) netted an unassisted tally. The Yellow Jackets scored three more before back-to-back free position goals by the WildCat's Taylor Klevenz (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) made the score 10-3. Randolph-Macon entered halftime with an 11-3 lead.
After the break, the Yellow Jackets would net the first five tallies of the second stanza before Melanie Eisele (Kennett Square, Pa./Sanford School) stopped the run with a free position strike. The WildCats played well down the stretch, scored the last three goals of the game but it wasn't enough to make the comeback.
Eisele finished with two goals on three shots for the WildCats, while Klevenz added two goals and five draw controls. Haney finished with two goals as well for Randolph, while Ashley Edwards (Sumerduck, Va./Liberty-Bealeton) had a goal and five draw controls. Sophomore Samantha Fagone (Bayshore, N.Y./Bayshore) made 14 saves in her half of action for the WildCats.
Lynch tallied a game-high five goals for Randolph-Macon College, while Betsy Hebert contributed two goals and two assists. Alyssa Chavez, Jenelle Whitman and Rachel Johnson all had two goals as well for the Yellow Jackets, who outshot the WildCats 39-21. Randolph won the draw control battle 15-12, but turned the ball over 20 times.
Randolph will return to the field on Tuesday evening as it battles Bridgewater College in WildCat Stadium at 6 p.m. in conference action.
