No. 9 Lynchburg Too Much for Women's Soccer

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- In the final game of the 2013 season, Randolph fell to nationally ranked Lynchburg.

Ranked ninth in the D3soccer.com national poll, Lynchburg scored five first-half goals to coast to the victory, 12-0.

Randolph's first shot almost found the back of the net when junior Brittany Hammons (Newport News, Va./Grafton) took an attempt that almost slipped by the keeper, but couldn't find the back of the net.

Hammons was looking for her 11th goal of the year, the fifth most in the ODAC this year.

First-year Alex Pinto (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) had a good chance later in the second, but her look was blocked, forcing a corner. Off that corner, Hammons had a shot, which went wide.

Randolph's final shot came from first-year Sarah Sivick (Haymarket, Va./Pope John Paul the Great), but was saved.

It was the final contest for seniors Chloe Tong (Easton, Md./Wye River), Anna Messier (Bedford, Va./Liberty), Marielle Rando (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) and Elisa Otero (Chevy Chase, Md./St. John's).

Tong, Messier and Otero started, while Rando missed the game due to injury.

Lynchburg has not allowed a goal since Oct. 1 and is the top seed in the ODAC tournament.
