Box Score SWEET BRIAR, Va. -- Women's soccer travels to Sweet Briar at 4:30 for a game the WildCats need to stay alive in the ODAC playoff hunt.
About at the WildCats:
Randolph has four conference games remaining and sits seven points out of the final playoff spot. With that in mind, anything less than three points today would be a disappointment.
While the WildCats cannot be officially eliminated from playoff consideration today, the team would lose control of its own destiny with a draw or loss and would have to rely on other results.
Randolph is coming off of a 2-0 loss at Hollins and sits at 1-7 in conference play.
Coach Kevin Porterfield has been playing a platoon at goalkeeper, with first-year Caitlin Annunziata (Havelock, N.C./Havelock) and recently healthy senior Chloe Tong (Easton, Md./Wye River) splitting minutes.
Sophomore Ally Ramos (Manassas, Va./C.D. Hylton) is fifth in the league in assists.
About the Vixens:
Sweet Briar sits at 0-7 in ODAC play and is in the same position as the WildCats in terms of need for victory.
After starting the year 2-0-1 in non-conference play, the Vixens have lost seven straight since hitting the ODAC section of their schedule.
About the matchup:
Randolph's ODAC win came against a Guilford team that topped Sweet Briar, 4-2, earlier this year.
The Vixens defeated Randolph's next opponent, Trinity (D.C.), 10-1 in September.
Randolph is 13-1-1 against Sweet Briar since 1998, with the last two games finishing as four-goal Randolph wins.
WildCat to watch:
Junior Brittany Hammons (Newport News, Va./Grafton) will be called upon to try and help Randolph break its 283:05 scoreless drought.
The midfielder will have even more of an attacking presence in the absence of running-mate, first year Maggie Croft (Manassas, Va./Osbourn).
After starting the year leading the conference in shooting percentage, Hammons has come up empty on her last 19 shots.
