Box Score ROANOKE, VA — Junior Danielle Haney (Norwood, PA/Interboro) tied the school record with seven goals as the Randolph College women's lacrosse team breezed past Hollins University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Saturday.
Haney tied her own record that she set back on April 3, 2010, also against Hollins. She started the day strong for the WildCats, scoring the first four goals of the game to push Randolph up early. First-year Taylor Klevenz (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) sandwiched a pair of goals around another from Haney to make the score 7-0 after 20 minutes of play.
Randolph (4-9/2-5 ODAC) finished the half on a 4-1 run; with three coming from Klevenz to take a 11-1 lead into the break. After the intermission, Randolph wouldn't relent, outscoring Hollins 6-1 in the second half to cruise to the victory.
Haney added three assists to her goal total, firing 15 shots on the day which was a school record. Klevenz added six ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers, while Ashley Edwards (Sumerduck, VA/Liberty-Bealeton) had a great day, scoring twice and assisting on two others. She also added six ground balls, seven draw controls and a school-record nine caused turnovers.
Junior Ashley Stevens (Leicester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) did not score but picked up five caused turnovers and tied the program mark for ground balls with eight. She also moved into the top three in the conference in ground balls. Sophomore Nushaa Kaz (Raleigh, NC/Ravenscroft) had two goals, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
First-year Samantha Fagone (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) made six saves in net for the WildCats, who outshot Hollins 40-8.
Randolph will now focus its sights on a road game at Lynchburg College Wednesday at 6 p.m.
