Danielle Haney Nets Two But Randolph Women's Lax Falls to Shenandoah 13-2

                WINCHESTER, VA – Randolph College junior attack Danielle Haney (Norwood, PA/Interboro) scored her 32nd and 33rd goals on Tuesday evening but Shenandoah University wouldn't allow anything more as the Hornets knocked off the WildCat women's lacrosse team 13-2 in non-conference action.

                SU (11-4) opened the game on a 5-0 run, as Sydney Anderson and Samantha Sisson both scored a pair of goals for the Hornets. Randolph (3-9) got on the board with 11:57 left in the period, as Haney netted off of an assist from first-year Taylor Klevenz (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill).

                Shenandoah closed the half with two more goals to take a 7-1 lead into the break. The Hornets opened the second stanza with five more goals to take a 12-1 lead before Haney scored her second of the night with six minutes to go. The Hornet defense, which came into the game as the sixth-best backline in the nation, held the improved WildCat offense to just 12 shots on the night.

                First-year keeper Samantha Fagone (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) posted another solid performance with 15 saves, chalking up her ninth double-digit save game and her fifth straight. Fagone added four ground balls, while the team leader in that category Ashley Stevens (Leicester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) added four ground balls as well.

                First-year Sara Ignarro (Fredericksburg, VA/Chancellor) continued to show improved play with each game, posting two ground balls, while Morgan Thompson (Sandy Hook, VA/Goochland) added two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Klevenz finished with three ground balls, two caused turnovers and four draw controls in addition to the assist she posted on the Haney tally.

                Sisson led all scorers with four goals for the hosting Hornets, and Ashley Cross has nine saves in the win. Alexis Landau added six caused turnovers and eight ground balls for SU, and Corrinne Kosmowski had two goals, an assist, six ground balls and two caused giveaways.

                Randolph will hop back into Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Saturday with a league matchup with Hollins University in Roanoke, VA at 1 p.m.
