Box Score ASHLAND, VA — The homestanding Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College scored eight straight goals during the first half to take control, knocking off the Randolph College men's lacrosse team 17-6 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Saturday.
Randolph (3-6/0-2 ODAC) notched the first goal of the game as Colton Wood (Chula Vista, CA/Otay Ranch) scored an unassisted goal at 11:22 of the first quarter. R-MC notched the game's next eight goals to take a 8-1 lead. Tyler Midwinter had two goals and two assists during the run to lead Randolph-Macon.
Randolph responded with a goal right before the half thanks to a unassisted tally from john Croney (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) to cut the deficit to six going into halftime. R-MC would score seven of the game's next eight goals to take a commanding lead.
Croney finished with two goals for the WildCats, as he upped his season total to 11. Wood, Josh Borgelt (Greenville, SC/Mouldin), Jon O'Hara (Yorktown, VA/Grafton) and Bobby Crosby (Bethel, CT/Bethel) all netted one goal for Randolph. Kevin McCracken (Annandale, VA/Annandale) made nine saves for Randolph, as the WildCats were outshot 37-18.
Brett Austin had three goals and three assists to lead the Yellow Jackets, and Jake Leddy had three goals and an assists. Midwinter, Nolan Clark, Michael McBournie and Justin Butler all had a pair of tallies for R-MC (8-2/0-2 ODAC).
Randolph is back in action Wednesday evening as the WildCats entertain Virginia Wesleyan College at 7 p.m. in WildCat Stadium in ODAC play.
