Box Score LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College women's lacrosse team, searching for its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win of its short existence, struggled to a season-high 32 turnovers in falling to Bridgewater College 17-4 in action from WildCat Stadium Tuesday evening.
The first half did not start at all how the WildCats (1-4/0-2 ODAC) would of wanted, as the Eagles netted the game's first seven goals. Sophomore Samie Maggard (Baltimore, MD/Patapsco) scored on an assist from Danielle Haney (Norwood, PA/Interboro) to put Randolph on the board late in the first. Haney netted one of her own minutes later to pull Randolph to within seven at 9-2.
Unfortunately for the WildCats, a six goal run by the Eagles (3-2/1-0 ODAC) upped their lead to 14-2 and out of striking distance for a second-half comeback. Despite the goals scored against, WildCat keeper Samantha Fagone (Bayshore, NY/Bayshore) played well, making 14 saves in the game with 11 coming in the first half. Haney finished with two goals and an assist for Randolph.
First-year Taylor Klevenz (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) had four draw controls and three ground balls, while Jess Andersen (Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) posted her first goal of the year to go with four draw controls. Ashley Edwards (Sumerduck, VA/Liberty-Bealeton) finished with team-highs of six ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Katie Freeman had a game-high five goals, while Taylor Chamberlain added four goals and four assists for the Eagles, who outshot Randolph 40-12. Paige Hennessy and Megan Bach also each netted hat tricks for BC. Laura Reynolds had five saves to earn the victory between the pipes for the Eagles. BC also did a great job in the midfield, holding the WildCats to only nine clears in 20 attempts.
The WildCats will get a week off before returning to WildCat Stadium with another Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest, this time entertaining Randolph-Macon College at 4 p.m Tuesday, March 20.
