Box Score LYNCHBURG, VA -- The Randolph College women's soccer team dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest to Randolph-Macon College 5-0 Saturday afternoon from Ashland, VA.
The WildCats (3-4/0-3 ODAC) dropped their fourth consecutive game on Saturday, has Randolph was outshot by the Yellow Jackets 27-4 on the afternoon. R-MC (5-2-1/3-0 ODAC) was quick to draw first blood, as Erin Hauser scored on a give and go with Amanda Nelms just 3:41 in to take a 1-0 lead.
Hauser was at it again 10 minutes later, scoring her eighth of the season unassisted to double the Randolph-Macon lead to 2-0. Shortly after that, the WildCats had one of their best scoring chances, as first-year Ashley Oswald (Mechanicsville, VA/Lee-Davis) had her shot saved by Yellow Jackets keeper Cecilia Quinonez.
Randolph's defense would settle down, not allowing another goal for the rest of the period. After intermission, R-MC scored three goals in just under a 10 minute spurt, two coming from Jen LaBarge, to put the game away.
Randolph keeper Hunter Gibson (Newport News, VA/Denbigh) had 12 saves on the afternoon, while the defense made four team saves. The squad was without defensive midfielder Ashley Stevens (Leicester, VA/St. Peter-Marian) due to injury. Randolph-Macon held a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.
Randolph is back in action Wednesday evening as it hosts Guilford College at 7 p.m. in conference action at WildCat Stadium.
