WildCat Women's Soccer Falls to Bridgewater College Saturday

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, VA — The Randolph College women's soccer team could not contain the high powered offense of Bridgewater College as the WildCats dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest 5-0 Homecoming Saturday from WildCat Stadium.

The Eagles (8-3-0/3-2-0 ODAC) scored early on as Melanie Waters netted her sixth of the season on a feed from Sarah Conner. Six minutes later, Anna Theisen netted her fifth of the year after a great individual effort by Mari Marotta to get her the ball. The WildCats (3-6-0/0-5-0 ODAC) would settle down, and had a great chance at 11:05 of the game as Melisa Rodriguez (Culpeper, VA/Eastern View) missed just wide.

After the halftime break, sophomore Marielle Rando (Powhatan, VA/Powhatan) had the best chance of the day for Randolph, but a great save by Mackenzie Gates kept the hosts WildCats off the board. Shortly after that, Theisen tallied her second of the afternoon to make the score 3-0. Four minutes later, defender Jessica Sites chalked up her first on the campaign unassisted.

The Eagles finished their scoring with just under four minutes to play, as Waters scored her second on the contest, thanks to a pass from Marotta. First-year Hunter Gibson (Newport News, VA/Denbigh) played well, making 12 saves.

Bridgewater outshot the WildCats 27-3 on the afternoon, while taking all eight of the game's corner kicks. BC's Gates, Cari Hensley and Lindsey McDole combined for the shutout, as the WildCats have not scored in their last five contests.

Randolph continues its difficult ODAC stretch on Tuesday afternoon with a trip to nationally-ranked Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, VA at 4 p.m.
