Originally from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, De Novais has lived in the Lynchburg area since 1998 after a few years in Harrisonburg where he played two seasons at Eastern Mennonite. He has coached boys and girls teams in Amherst and Central Virginia United for more than 10 years. For the past six years, he has been the head coach for the JV Girls team and assistant for the varsity team at Jefferson Forest High School. He holds a National D Coaching License through the US Soccer Federation and National Advance Diploma with NSCAA.
De Novais works for Moore's Electrical and Mechanical in Altavista as an Assistant Project Manager. He and his wife Crystal have three children; Alex, Brianna, and Brooke
