2019: Started 18 games between the pipes in his final season as a WildCat … had at least one save in all but one game … had season-high seven saves three times … three shutouts including back-to-back blankings of ODAC opponents
2018: Started 10 of 13 games … improved his number from his sophomore year … had three games with six saves … five saves on two other occasions.
2017: Started 11 of 12 games … had a clean sheet against Hampden-Sydney in 2-0 WildCat win … tallied six stops vs. Washington and Lee … season-best eight saves at Roanoke … four saves in 2-1 Randolph ODAC quarterfinal victory over the Maroons.
2016: After missing the first game of the season, took on a major role for the WildCats in his first season…commanded his box extremely well and made many non-box score plays by charging off his line…started the remaining 18 games between the sticks…won eight of his matches and shutout five different teams during the year…earned his first career win against Averett in 5-1 victory…named to the Tiger/WildCat All-Tournament Team after shutting out B-SC and holding Sewanee without a goal for 72 minutes before being subbed out…made a season-high eight saves in win over Emory & Henry…finished the season fifth in the ODAC in save percentage at .777…also finished sixth in saves with 73…will look to continue his rise as one of the best in the conference.
Previous: Started all four seasons for North Forsyth High School…was a two-year captain for John Timmons and the Vikings…earned several accolades throughout his time between the pipes…was named all-conference his final three seasons…was named all-region first-team as a junior and senior, while being named all-state first-team as a senior...selected for the Clash of Carolinas team...MVP goalkeeper for Sueno Alianza Atlanta.
Personal: Son of Juan Cortez-Perez and Elizabeth Martinez…has four siblings: Javier, Ericka, Auly, and Juan…minoring in Spanish...invited to train with Pumas, Leon Negros, and Mineros de Zacatecas of Mexico.
