2017: Finished his role as one of the top-two faceoff men for the WildCats…ended his career with his best season in his career…played in every game during the year, and started the season finale…was outstanding at the ‘X’, winning exactly 50% of his attempts…picked up 67 wins on the year…did a great job of using his style, by flipping the ball backwards to teammates…also scooped up 21 ground balls on the year…ends his career with 240 faceoff wins and a .464 win percentage…those totals put him at second and third respectively in the history of the program…will be missed by the team and the staff.
2016: Was the top FOGO option for the WildCats, where he played in all but one game…won 59 faceoffs during the year, which led the team…won 50% or more of his attempts in six of the games on the year, and just missed in two other contests…went 12-19 against Hampden-Sydney and Virginia Wesleyan…picked up 25 ground balls on the year and caused two turnovers…will look to improve his proficiency in his final season at the ‘X’.
2015: Served as the primary FOGO for the WildCats in his sophomore season…played in all 15 games, and earned the start at the ‘X’ in 10 of them…finished the season with 87 wins…won 13 against Southern Virginia and 12 against Ferrum…went 9-12 for his best percentage against Shenandoah…pulled in 32 groundballs and caused one turnover during the season…will look to continue his role as the top FOGO and add more on the offensive end.
2014: Served as the second choice faceoff man in his first season…did a great job spelling Grundy, Jr….won 27 times and picked up 12 groundballs…had two days of going 7-9: wins over Southern Virginia and Bryn Athyn…will look to take over the FOGO role with Grundy graduating.
Before Randolph: Alex attended Wakefield School in the Delancy District...earned four letter in both lacrosse and basketball...started for three years on the lacrosse team for coach Tim Mahoney...was a captain for the team for two years...started for the basketball team two years, captaining one of them...played hoops for coach Tee Summers...was two-time all-conference in lacrosse...lacrosse team was champions of the Delancy division two times...earned academic honors two times at Wakefield.
Personal: Son of Edgar and Janet Leyva...has coached an off-season lacrosse club called the Generals...enjoys hanging out with friends in his free time...chose Randolph because of the small class size.
