LYNCHBURG, Va. – On an early autumn night that honored five departing seniors before the game, the Randolph WildCats men's soccer team continued the celebration on the field, routing the Averett Cougars 5-0 on Saturday night at WildCat Stadium.

Following a brief pregame ceremony honoring Trace Dockman, Prince Babonye, Sixto Hernandez, Sage Dombrovskis and Alonzo Ogaldez Jr., the night went from special to extremely memorable for the program. All five seniors saw meaningful playing time in the shutout victory, with multiple career milestones coming for the graduating class.

Sage Dombrovskis got the night started in the 23rd minute with his first goal of the evening, as a pass from Marcus Cortes found Dombrovskis just outside the keeper's reach to give Randolph a 1-0 lead.

Helping others get in on the fun, Cortes and Bryan Leiva-Membreno combined for a double assist in the 42nd minute, setting up Devan Stickle for a low shot that found the back of the net and made it 2-0 heading into halftime.

After the break, the 'Cats picked up right where they left off, as Dombrovskis doubled his career best with his second goal of the evening. His right-footed shot found the left corner in the 54th minute, assisted by Nick Conboy, giving him a new season high with his third goal of the year.

Tyler Richardson added a goal of his own in the 61st minute, taking a pass from Fernando Quinteros and finishing to push the Randolph advantage to 4-0.

Capping the scoring was Hernandez, who collected his first career goal in the 64th minute. After his initial penalty kick missed off the crossbar, Hernandez followed up on his own rebound and found the back-left corner to make it 5-0.

After subbing on all five seniors over the final 25 minutes, the WildCats preserved the shutout and secured their first multi-goal shutout victory since Sept. 10, 2025, when Randolph defeated Mary Baldwin 4-0. The win also marks Randolph's first victory in a conference opener since 2024, when the 'Cats defeated Guilford, and their first home victory in a conference opener since 2021, when they downed Bridgewater.

Randolph took advantage of several Averett miscues throughout the night, outshooting the Cougars 21-6 and holding a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal. The 'Cats also earned 15 corner kicks.

With the shutout, Randolph improves to 4-3-1 on the season and 1-0-0 in ODAC play. The 'Cats return to the road on Wednesday, Sept. 30, when they take on Roanoke. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
