LYNCHBURG, Va. - Bruised, battered, but never deterred, the Randolph WildCats women's volleyball team welcomed the Regent Royals for a midweek clash on Wednesday. Battling through four sets, the 'Cats emerged victorious with a 3-1 win.
Randolph raced out to a 2-0 lead through the first two sets, winning 25-16 and 25-23, before the Royals responded with a 25-22 third-set victory. After an early stoppage in play, the WildCats fought through tenacious defense to secure the fourth set and the match, 25-21.
Destanie Ambers finished the night with 11 kills on 39 attempts, while
Mary Park and Caroline Elliot added seven each. Elliot also led the team in blocks with three, while
Carly Schopp paced the way with 14 assists.
With the win, the WildCats improve to 8-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Randolph returns to ODAC action on Friday, Sept. 25, when the WildCats host Hollins. The match will serve as the program's Suicide Prevention Game, with first serve scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
